Construction Contracts

Construction contracts are legal agreements between parties involved in a construction project, and they outline the terms and conditions under which the project will be completed. There are a number of different types of construction contracts, each with its own set of specific provisions and requirements.

Three of the most commonly used construction contracts in the United States are the EJCDC contracts, the AIA contracts, and the ConsensusDocs contracts.

The EJCDC contracts, also known as the Engineer's Joint Contract Documents Committee contracts, are a set of standard construction contracts developed by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). These contracts are designed for use on construction projects involving engineering work, and they include provisions related to design, construction, and project management.

The AIA contracts, also known as the American Institute of Architects contracts, are a set of standard construction contracts developed by the American Institute of Architects (AIA). These contracts are widely used in the construction industry, and they cover a wide range of construction projects, including commercial, residential, and institutional projects.

The ConsensusDocs contracts are a set of standard construction contracts developed by a consortium of industry organizations, including the AGC, ASCE, DBIA, and others. These contracts are designed to provide a fair balance of risk and liability for all parties involved in a construction project, and they cover a wide range of construction projects, including commercial, residential, and institutional projects.

Overall, the EJCDC, AIA, and ConsensusDocs contracts are all widely used in the construction industry, and they provide a standardized set of provisions and requirements that help to ensure that construction projects are completed in a fair and efficient manner.

Great Man-Made River (GMR)

Libya's Great Man-Made River: The Great Man-Made River in Libya is one of the most ambitious Civil Engineering projects in the history of mankind.  In the year 1953, the Libyan Government found not only vast oil reserves but also a vast quantity of fresh water locked under the strata. Most of the water was trapped around 7000-30000 years ago, which is divided into 4 different basins. The first basin is named the Kufra basin, which is near the Egyptian border which covering almost 35000 sq kilometers and is quite deep, around 2000 m deep. The other basins are in the Sirte Basin, which covers 10000 sq kilometers, the third in the Murzuk Basin, and the last in the Jabal Fezzan Basin, covering 4800 sq kilometers.  The GMR project will be used to transfer water to the North of the country to provide water for irrigation purposes for more than 6 million people. This will be a changing point for Libya, and Colonel Muammar Gaddafi called it the Eighth Wonder of the World. The work sta...
